The parents of the Turtle class of 2017, urge the administration of Midstream Ridge Pre-primary to return teacher Paulina Thavihiwa to the position of teacher’s assistant with immediate effect.
Our request is based on what is in the best interests of all the children involved and we strongly believe that this change is to the detriment of their development during this pivotal year as they transition into Grade 1.
The children deserve to be given every opportunity to succeed and to meet their full potential with the help of an experienced and suitably qualified grade R teacher’s assistant. Teacher Paulina, having had taught the grade R syllabus will aid in supporting teacher Bianca de Wild in her first year of teaching this grade - as was the case up until last week Friday, 17 February 2017.
The method in which this change was communicated, sadly demonstrates a lack of consideration given to the impact it’ll have on the children. We also feel that a change this drastic, requires formal communication, an explanation to the parents as well as the children and not a mere note on a weekly class letter. The outcome of which seems insensitive and unfair on the children.

We know the school has always and still does all it's efforts to keep our children and accordingly all the parents happy and satisfied. This a sudden change in such a critical year for the children most definitely won't do them good. We've all had Catherine as an assistant teacher before and we all like her. But this is not an emotional situation we are discussing now, this is something concerning our kids' emotional and educational wellbeing. With teacher Paulina being experienced with grade R curriculum, we are all asking you to please bring her back to the Turtles class as soon as possible. I'm. Infident that the school's management will take immediate corrective action and will make a satisfactory plan for the other class. Thanking you in advance.
Dane needs every assistance he can this year and although I have nothing against Catherine, I need to know that at least one of the teachers/assistant has had experience with the GrR syllabus. I have no doubt that teacher Bianca is capable but she should at least have the back up of someone who has been through the Grade R year before.
As a granny I petition for Paulina Thavihiwa to return to the Turtle class as it is important for their transition phase
Please can you respond to this petition urgently. I know that Chris needs lots of encouragement for this vital step to Grade 1. I would therefore prefer for the assistant in the class to have experience in Grade R. Thank you for our consideration.

I feel that with this being Teacher Bianca's first Grd R year, it makes complete sense and logic that Paulina remain as her class assistant, because Paulina has Grd R experience, and knows exactly what support and assistance is expected and required for this crucial year of the Foundation Phase.
