We were saddened to learn that Joe Dillon, our longtime beloved bartender at the Miami Beach Smith and Wollensky establishment, was recently terminated from his employment there. We urge Smith and Wollensky to reconsider its decision and bring him back. For 25 years Joe has been a fixture for us locals, and turned many people into regulars at Smith and Wollensky despite countless other restaurant and bar options in Miami and Miami Beach. Joe’s great service and sharp wit made Smith and Wollensky a fun and pleasurable place to meet with friends. Joe is a valuable asset to Smith and Wollensky and we sincerely hope to have him back.
Seeing the flood of stories about Joe proves that twenty-five years of kindness creates a family that will not stay silent. This momentum shows that the people running this place have truly forgotten what makes their bar a home.

I have been hearing from so many of you who remember Joe welcoming you to the bar for years. Your stories about his kindness are a powerful reminder of why he belongs behind that counter.

Seeing one hundred people sign up to bring Joe back honestly chokes me up. He made that bar feel like home for so many of us for decades. I am getting these names over to the management team now.

It’s not the same, the most important person was let go because he may have offended someone who is not used to his way. Don’t come to Miami Smith and Wollensky if you are sensitive. Don’t ruin it for the rest of us who love his zest for life.

Joe is one of the main reason why I go to Smiths for over 20 years! He’s a staple of the resturant, and I have held many personal, family and corporate events there because of Joe’s wonderful hospitality and loving spirit. Bring Joe back!

Joe has brought an ongoing local, loyal upscale clientele to Smith & Wollensky for decades. They keep coming back because of Joe. He makes us all feel it home. This is our local "Cheers" bar. Without Joe, it is not our "home away from home" to meet friends anymore. BRING BACK JOE! Thanks

I travel to Florida 2 x's a month with a Saturday night expectation to sit at the Smith Bar where Joe is. I was not aware he was no longer there. If this is the case, I will go elsewhere or where ever Joe may be

I worked with joe at smith for 6 years. He’s amazing human being and very good employee. He has a unique sense of humor, but Overall a great asset for the restaurant. I can’t believe they terminate him.
