For nearly 20 years I have been coming to Dover District Park in Dover, Florida, to play soccer. In that time, I have met hundreds of people, and made many new friends, most of which remain close to me. The park was a place where people could go in the afternoons, to join together and play pickup games of soccer. This included many youths, providing them a place to go and get exercise, interact with others, and keep them out of trouble. The people who would come to the park came from many diverse backgrounds, speaking different languages that included English, Spanish, Portuguese, Croatian, and French, among other languages. We came to play the game we all love, the beautiful game of soccer.

In early Spring of 2020, when the Covid pandemic forced a statewide lockdown, the goals on the field were removed by the county in an effort to keep people from gathering. There were other reasons to remove them, they were old and had become safety hazards, creating a liability for the county.

We are now more than 18 months removed from that time, and we feel the time is now to bring back the goals to the fields, to put those large fields of grass to great use, and to allow us to return to the pastime we love so dearly.

We are asking Hillsborough County to install new goals, enough for at least two full size fields (there used to be five fields in play). Please join us in this cause, and help us to return to normal.
