Kathy Lloyd has not been rehired to teach her 1/2 class at Oak Creek Elementary this year. This is a travesty and a great disservice to her students. In Lake Oswego we have blended classrooms, some say that is not ideal but one key feature of blended classrooms is CONTINUITY. Kathy Lloyd is a seasoned education professional and two years with her students would be the ideal gift to any young person. Educational continuity is something the school district ought to safeguard whenever possible, they owe it to their students and families. In this case, the 2nd graders deserve to have Ms. Lloyd again, particularly since the start of their 1st grade last year was rocky, Oak Creek owes these kids stability. To unnecessarily pull that stability from these students and their families shows poor judgment and does not take into consideration what is best for these particular students. For Oak Creek to lose a teacher of Kathy Lloyd's caliber and expertise is shocking. She brings so much to her students, their families and the Oak Creek community as a whole. Therefore we insist that Kathy Lloyd be reinstated as 1/2 teacher at Oak Creek School to continue where she left off last school year.
