On Wednesday, June 17, 2020, the day after the 2020 school year ended at Oxford Preparatory Academy - South Orange County (OPA SOC), the administration informed Miss Aubree Bova that she was being “let go” from her position as a Kindergarten teacher and would not be returning in the fall.

Unfortunately, the administration made this decision without giving due consideration for Miss Bova’s immense talents as a teacher, as well as the love that OPA SOC students and families have for her. Many of the children in Miss Bova’s Kindergarten class this year were from families that were new to OPA, and Miss Bova exceeded their expectations in every measure. Other families were hopeful that their younger children would benefit from Miss Bova’s incredible teaching in the years to come. To put this in the simplest terms, OPA SOC needs Miss Bova!! Miss Bova LOVES her students, their families, and OPA, and removing her will result in a great loss for the entire OPA community.

The Oxford Preparatory Academy Board of Directors should act quickly to address this issue by: (1) investigating the alleged grounds for Miss Bova’s removal from her position by the OPA SOC administration; and, (2) reversing the incorrect decision to remove Miss Bova, and re-hiring her as a Kindergarten teacher for the 2020-2021 school year.

OPA SOC is more than just a K-8 public charter school...it is a close-knit community of students, families, and teachers working together to provide the best educational experience possible for our children. Miss Bova is an integral member of this community, and she should be re-hired as soon as possible.

Respectfully,

Parents for Miss Bova

Our granddaughter has learned so much from Ms. Bova. Every time we ask how she is doing in school, our granddaughter goes on and on about Ms. Bova then proceeds to tell us what she has learned. It would be a shame to have such a dedicated teacher as Ms. Bova removed from the school.

Our first year at OPA, and decision to continue at OPA, is solely due to Ms.Bova and her amazing teaching style. My child has learned more than I could've imagined as a Kindergartener and its all thanks to Ms.Bova; she exudes excellence, love and dedication for her students! I am in shock that OPA would let go of such a great asset to their school...please reconsider.

I have watched and personally witnessed Miss Bova’s dedication and love for not only the student and their families, but abiding by the OPA traditions and ways. She has a genuine passion and love for teaching and children and is an integral part of their foundation as a kindergarten teacher.

Ms. Boba is an AMAZING person! Even after finishing Kindergarten and moving on to 1st grade my daughter would still make it a point to walk by the kinder classes to say hello and give Ms. Bova a huge hug! In fact, we may not have even been able to enjoy the superior education offered by OPA without the opportunity to join her class midway through the school year. Please reconsider!!

I’d be interested to hear why they would let one of their more experienced kindergarten teachers go. It seems like that would be a valuable asset during these troubled times, and something that would draw new families to this school. She has been one of the reasons that our families stayed attending this school.

We love and adore Ms Bova she has an expertise of a psychologist to how kinder garden kids think. I owe my sons reading in 2nd grade level to Ms. Bova. Best teacher ever.

Ms Bova is a very good teacher and it is sad to see her leave. The children’s education will suffer significantly if she has to leave.
