We the parents of J. Irving Baylis Elementary School call on the Syosset
Central School District and the Syosset School Board to reverse the
decision to transfer Christa Corritore to South Grove Elementary School for
the 2014-2015 school year.
Ms. Corritore will be completing her 17th year of teaching at Baylis this
school year. She is currently the second grade level lead teacher and is a
co-teacher of the Wilson Phonics Early Morning Program for first and second
graders who struggle in reading. She is an integral part of the Baylis
community, and transferring her would be detrimental to the current student
body.
Ms. Corritore is dedicated to the students of Baylis. She has worked
tirelessly for the last seventeen years to serve our children inside and
outside the classroom. She is has been an active member of the Compact
Committee since it started and has implemented many of the long-standing
Baylis activities and clubs, including the Garden Club. She puts her
students’ needs above all else and her commitment to her students’
education is unwavering as evidenced by their success.
The future of Baylis is much stronger with Ms. Corritore on our faculty.
We urge you to support our students and reinstate Christa Corritore at
Baylis Elementary School.

I have been reading your stories about how Christa helped your children learn to read and find their confidence. The silence from the district office is frustrating but we are not going anywhere while they continue to ignore the heart of our school community.

Seeing this much support for Ms. Corritore proves just how much our school loves her. My children have thrived under her guidance and the district needs to listen to our community.

Two of my three children were lucky enough to have Ms. Corritore. She was able to see things in my children that no other teacher, or I as a parent was able to see. She brought taught them to a higher level both academically and personally. She has become lifetime family friend. It would be a shame if Baylis loses such a dedicated teacher, mentor and friend to so many families.
Ms. Corritore is the best thing that has happened to my son in his educational life. She has the ability to get to know her students and finds the ways to reach them so that they reach their potential. She is am inspiration to the teaching field. Why is she being taken away from the students of Baylis?
I have one child who is a sophomore in college and one child halfway through high school. Syosset has many great teachers, but Ms. Corritore is much much more than that! I'm not sure why this transfer is taking place, but I can honestly say that Baylis will not be the school it was without her presence! Shame on Syosset Central School District for allowing this to happen!!
One thing I loved about Ms. Corritore was that she really got to know each child as an individual and knew exactly what he/she needed in order to be successful!
We had such an amazing year with Ms. corritore and don't want to see her go. I was looking forward to my other kids benefiting from her teaching
Please keep Ms. Corretori at Baylis!
Ms. Corritore is my favorite teacher! Keep her at Baylis!

My daughter had a great experience in 2nd grade with Ms. Corritore and she still considers her a good friend today. Please reconsider your decision to transfer her from Baylis.
