Support The Brick Yard Outdoor Seating!
Dear Friends,
Please help support The Brick Yard Restaurant & Bar on Union Street and its application for a patio, which is a permitted use in the Union Street Neighborhood Commercial District.
The Brick Yard desires to provide an open air dining patio which measures 9’ x 14’ and seats approximately 10 for the enjoyment of its guests and patrons. This represents less sq ft than many sidewalk seating areas such as the one approved next door at Roam Burgers. The Brick Yard does not intend to apply for sidewalk seating in addition to this patio.
Although this is a permitted amenity, a small contingency of neighbors have opposed the patio and have requested a planning hearing to prevent the patio’s construction. This same group opposed permits for Giordano Brothers and the Vintage 415 Burger Concept on Fillmore. The Brick Yard management is working with a sound engineer to address any noise concerns this group has and is proactively reaching out to these and other neighbors for additional input and recommendations for the patio.
Since opening in June of 2010, The Brick Yard has established itself as a neighborhood favorite in the Cow Hollow district, providing a distinct venue to gather with friends and enjoy creative and healthy food. Its opening has helped the rejuvenation of Union Street in addition to creating 50 new jobs in one of the worst recessions in recent history. Prior to opening, the space was vacant for two years and considered a blight to the neighborhood.
Your signature as a San Francisco resident will help to convey to the planning and building department that The Brick Yard’s patio will be a welcome amenity for neighbors and residents alike. The San Francisco Planning Commission is due to vote on the patio application on January 20, 2011. We appreciate your support with this signature and encourages you to voice your opinion at the planning hearing on Jan 20th.
Thank you and we look forward to seeing you at The Brick Yard in the coming months.
Sincerely,
The Brick Yard Management/Employees and Marina/Cow Hollow Residents
