We, the undersigned, are calling on Louth County Council to provide much needed footpath infrastructure in Blackrock, particularly along the Rock Road and the Old Golf Links Road.
The council has not sent a formal response yet but we are continuing to prepare our formal submission for the next meeting. Walking these roads feels as dangerous as ever and the lack of progress is exhausting. We are staying on this until the paths are actually built.

Reaching this point has been an exhausting uphill climb but the momentum you have built gives me a reason to keep pushing. Many of you saw the need for safer roads long before anyone else would listen. This progress proves we are no longer easy to ignore.

Blackrock is a densely populated urban area and the fact that there are no footpaths on two main thoroughfares in the village is disgraceful. The council need to make this issue a priority before there is a fatality. Development levies collected in the past decade should be spent in the locale of the development. With this in mind it is hard to understand how the golf links road is in such a state of disrepair given the number of new houses in the area.

I would leave the car at home and let my children walk to school if we had footpaths on the Rock road. Current situation is not safe

I regularly walk from the bottom of the rock road up to the old golf links road with my young daughter in a pram, I never feel safe walking here and feel a footpath on even one side of both of these roads is essential.

Need footpaths the full length of the Rock Road or road widened ASAP. I walk my children on the road every day at this time of year and its a hazard for pedestrians
