I am requesting your signature to support a petition addressed to our local representatives and South Dublin County Council. The aim is to enhance the safety of the pedestrian crossing between Abbeywood and Colthurst. Currently, vehicles approach at high speeds, and poor lighting severely limits visibility for pedestrians. Additionally, the crossing's location poses significant risks, as people on foot, scooters, and bicycles frequently come from adjacent roads and footpaths, leaving drivers with insufficient time to react safely. Your support is crucial in advocating for these necessary improvements. Thank you.
Crossing is dangerous and difficult to see when approaching from the ballyowen side

Very poor lighting/sufficient signage on approach to pedestrian crossing so motorists don’t slow down or sometimes don’t stop if people are crossing. It is dangerous as it gives pedestrians a false sense of security that they can cross but motor vehicles/ bikes/buses etc often do not stop. The lighting at the crossing itself and the lighting on the approaching roadside are too dim. This leaves it dangerous in the winter time especially if the pedestrians are wearing dark clothing.
It needs more signage notifications before well before the approach on both sides and a continuous flashing of lights on the crossing itself.
