Boosterthon is terrible! This "fundraiser" takes up classroom time and money! The Boosterthon staff comes in students classrooms every day for two weeks, at least ten minutes each day! They pressure kids to get "pledges" of $1 or more. My daughter told me about this, I looked at her papers, so I thought- Wow, a fundraiser that doesn't involve selling door-to-door! I gave her $5 of a donation, and we got a fuzzy red bracelet that snapped in half! She asked, "Why didn't I get my bouncy ball?". I looked up more info, and I found out that you had to pledge $5 per lap! The paper says that each student does about 30 Laps- that means $150 for a ball that's the size of a hand! My cousins live in Georgia, and they had Boosterthon while it was 42 degrees outside! The teachers stood there all bundled up, meanwhile the kids ran in the cold with their "free" t-shirts! Her son was freezing! Boosterthon is very expensive, takes up classroom time, and makes children get mad if they don't recieve a pledge. My other child, my son, was crying when all of his friends got pledges- he thought it was homework! If you agree, sign this petition and maybe we can an Boosterthon in our schools.
