This petition is in response to the recent News Gazette article and social media postings regarding Unity's position on not allowing early graduates to participate in the commencement ceremonies.
If you agree that ALL GRADUATES should be able to participate in the graduation ceremonies, even if they did graduate early, please sign this petition!
We need to plant seeds of UNITY by celebrating the students...all of them, early and full term!!
(Don't forget to share with as many as possible to be most effective!)

The volume of support has secured a meeting with the school board representatives to discuss the policy change. I am currently drafting a formal proposal outlining why early graduates should be included in the upcoming commencement ceremony.

Every student who has met the academic requirements should be allowed to participate fully in the annual commencement ceremony with their peers, regardless of when they completed the requirements. To deny them that right, is wrong. And, if they want to toss their hat in celebration after the ceremony, they should not have their transcripts withheld and be forced to do community service.

If a student graduates early it shows they put in extra hard work and dedication. They earned to walk at graduation just like the other students. They should be allowed their senior trip and Prom just like all other students. I find it ridiculous we punish them. Seems a little backwards.

You would think a school system would be proud of students who over achieve and meet goals sooner than expected. This is not just the student's graduations, it's the parents who sacrificed too. They want to see their kids take that walk just like any other parent.

All graduates should have the opportunity to participate in the commencement ceremonies!! They have earned this. The University of Illinois allows their December grads to participate in May. Please change this policy!!!!

I graduated early from my High School and they allowed me to participate in all dances and I was able to walk across the stage to get my diploma with the rest of my graduating class which meant a lot to me.

There is no reason to penalize students who have been with their classmates for 11 1/2 years. What good comes out of punishing an early graduate? They are still part of their class, let them participate in commencement ceremonies.

Let's praise these kids instead of penalizing them for graduating early. They should be proud of themselves for completing something sooner than later so that they can start the careers sooner!

Anyone should be able to walk, even if they graduate early. They did the extra work to move on to college quicker.
