This is a petition for Austin High School students and others who believe that the use of racial slurs, racism and harassment at Austin High School are matters that shouldn’t be taken lightly and should be taken seriously. This petition will be sent to administrators of Austin High School informing them that AHS students are in support of REAL consequences for racism and harassment at Austin Highschool.

Seeing this grow so quickly is truly overwhelming and I am deeply humbled by the community showing up for one another. This momentum belongs entirely to the students who chose to speak up when it was easier to stay quiet.

Austin high school: stop trying to present yourself as this great diverse happy school when you fail to represent your students of color properly. Students of color deserve to have their rights protected as their white counterparts and it’s up to YOU (staff, teachers, principal) to enforce it. Don’t turn a blind eye to them. They matter.
We came long way to make Austin Minnesota a Welcoming community and our work had being recognized everywhere. In a community that everyone feels is a Welcoming we should not allow such behavior and treatment to our students of color. We have stand together as a loving community.
as a former student of austin high school, i have seen how toxic the environment can be especially when regarding racial slurs towards other peers. it is unacceptable and austin high school should be a safe and excepting environment no matter what race you are.
This is a serious issue because these kids know their actions won’t have “real” consequences. It’s creating a toxic environment and the students are obviously frustrated and fed up with the lack of action being taken to prevent and control it.
What ever transpired at the school is unjustifiable. Action needs to be taken soon enough to show that the admin really do care about the students of color. This way, it will ensure that students will never have to deal with these troubling times in or around the community ever again.
If this many teenagers and young adults feel it’s an issue then it must be an issue. Do something about it.
Austin needs to stand up.
