Please sign this petition AGAINST the Star Market liquor license application at 1 Boylston Street, Chestnut Hill, MA. Star Market is a wholly owned subsidiary of Supervalu in Eden Prarie, MN. This area of Chestnut Hill is already fully serviced by three liquor stores - The Urban Grape, GPS and Winestone - which are all locally owned and operated. Star Market has not presented their plans for the sale of beer and wine, which include 50 feet of beer coolers and 120 feet of wine shelving in an uncontrolled section of the store, to any neighborhood groups for community approval.

Updates

February 22, 2012

I am currently drafting a formal letter to the licensing board to document the lack of transparency regarding the proposed store layout. We have requested a meeting with store management to discuss their plans for the beer and wine sections. The current density of independent retailers in this neighborhood must be part of the official record.

We have plenty of options already. Don't need more beer in a grocery store where they cant even control the crowds.

120 feet of wine is way too much. Keep it out of the residential area.

The small shops actually care about our community. Star market just wants another profit stream.

Enough with the big corporate chains taking over everything. Keep it local and support the shops already here.
