Our neighborhood Buckland Valley Farms, is alongside one of Bucks County's treasures, the Delaware Canal Towpath. There are many of us who would like to walk, ride bikes, and run along the towpath, but there is no safe access. The closest access is the River Road bridge. It is very dangerous, has no sidewalk or shoulder approaching the bridge, and a blind curve on the north bound lane.

• There are 250 homes in BVF with no safe access to the canal
• The Bowman’s Tower Farm neighborhood development of only 14 homes has a bridge to the canal
• The closest public access is the Washington Crossing Road Bridge (Route 532) and is about 2 miles away
• Our closest foot bridge is at the David Library of the American Revolution, over a mile away and on private property

The Buckland Valley Farms Canal Access Committee has met with the Upper Makefield Township Board of Supervisors requesting safe access to the canal. The Supervisors’ response was positive, and they will start researching possibilities. They have asked for signatures of support from our community in addition to requests from the Buckland Valley Farms Canal Access Committee.

I had a very close call with several motorcycles while trying to access the canal via River Rd. with my dog. Will never do it again, so hoping for a safe access to the canal.

I have been here for 20 years When they were dredging the canal they put in a temp bridge My family walked the canal every day. Build a nice foot bridge for the kids

BVF Resident. The public is going to find a way to access the canal. It's best that it be provided safely in lieu of on a blind curve.

I have almost been hit by cars on several occassions. I forbid my children to walk the road so they only get to use it when I can drive them to a place with safe access. What a shame to live on the canal but have no access to it. We have a road that dead ends to it which is the perfect place for a bridge. Something the other neighborhoods have. Why not us?

As a mother of young children and a runner, I often find myself choosing safety over enjoying our favorite activities of walking, running, and biking along the canal. It is much too dangerous to access the canal path at the River Road access point. We chose to live in BVF because of its tranquil setting and its proximity to the canal but we have not been able to fully take advantage of the canal due to concerns for our family’s safety.

I live in this beautiful neighborhood. I have witnessed children driving down River Road on their bikes, scooters and on foot all to access the towpath. There should be no reason that we don't have safe passage to access the Canal. There will come a day when someone's child is going to die because they've been hit by a car trying to get to the Canal. All to ride their bike. Please help solve this problem.

We love walking and running on the canal but find we aren’t able to use it frequently due to lack of easy access from our neighborhood. We have two kids and would love to be able to take them on the canal but feel it is far too dangerous to access it via River Rd. It is quite surprising there is a path to access it from river rd but yet no safe means of getting to that path from anywhere. We are in full support of having better access!

It is very dangerous to gain access to the towpath from the River Rd bridge, and I especially have concern for my child gaining access. Such a wonderful resource that I would utilize more frequently with better access!
