Let students carry backpacks around on campus without having to store it inside their lockers.
It is very inconvenient for students to have to place their backpacks into their lockers. With a passing time of only 4 minutes to get from one class to the next, it is nearly impossible to stop at a locker, use the rest room, and make it on time.
We hit one thousand signatures today. It is exhausting to keep pushing against an administration that refuses to listen, but seeing this many people acknowledge how impossible these passing periods are keeps me moving forward.

Reaching this level of support has been exhausting yet it confirms that we are not alone in this frustration. I am tired of the runaround but your responses prove that students deserve better than these rigid rules.

My feet are tired and the hallways feel longer than ever with these heavy bags but we are pushing toward one thousand signatures. We need to reach that threshold before the administration can ignore us again.

As a former West student and current parent of a student I know how big this school is and 4 mins to get to class might be achievable if they have their backpack to hold what they need! I carried a backpack and my daughters should be able to as well!!

Drawstring bags are not designed to carry books! If you don't want them to carry bookbags then you must not issue books for them. All you are doing is creating reasons for the students to be late and or not bring books to class.

I don't understand how a backpack with padded straps poses a greater security threat than a draw string backpack. The new administrates are trying too hard to appear tough and authoritative to the student body, that they have lost sight of reason.

If you're going to enforce the No Backpack rule, then please extend the passing time. It seems counterproductive to keep the students going to their lockers with an even shorter passing time. Isn't that why they stopped using their lockers in the first place?

i have no time to stop at my locker in between classes to get my supplies for each class during the day and the string bags are extremely inconvenient considering that I am an ap student and my textbooks are to heavy to carry in these types of bags

I am a student at West, and today I was not prepared for any of my classes due to the fact that I didn't have enough time to go to my locker, and to the bathroom. Four minutes is just not enough and us students being able to carry out backpacks would be very helpful.
