We, citizens of Baltimore City, Poppleton community, and the surrounding neighborhoods care deeply about all residents and especially individuals that need drug treatment. We want them to receive that treatment from a high quality, established provider, in the most effective environment. We oppose the new pilot program “Rebound Center” proposed by Divine Light, Inc. being located at 1200 West Baltimore Street.
We demand the City reject all applications for zoning changes, permits or other requests from Divine Light, Inc. and actively not support the effort to open this facility at 1200 West Baltimore Street.

The feedback from our neighbors continues to reflect a deep commitment to the well-being of the Poppleton community. I am currently working to ensure our concerns reach the relevant city offices so that the criteria for effective addiction treatment are properly understood by those making these decisions.

The steady growth of this movement reflects a deep commitment to the well-being of our community. It is heartening to see so many neighbors unite in the belief that our streets deserve thoughtful and effective solutions for those in need.

I completely support rehab facilities and I believe they are important and should be in our neighborhood. But they should also be in other neighborhoods. When you put all of them into one area you end up with a situation where those seeking help are bombarded with offers to lead them astray. It is never a good idea to have one industry dominate a neighborhood, and right now that is happening here as those receiving treatment already outnumber residents within a several block radius. Please spread out the facilities around the city for the sake of all involved.
I am a long term resident of the community. Our community right now is unable to support any more drug treatment centers given the large amount of drug rehab that we currently already have in the area. Concentrating drug rehab into one neighborhood has a detrimental effect

This doesn’t make sense to have a treatment center right in the heart of massive supply of drugs right outside on the street.
I am a longtime resident and former business owner on West Baltimore St. The surrounding communities have worked for years to bring life back to this commercial strip. The zoning change that would allow This NY real estate company to make massive amounts of money by renting to a highly profitable drug rehab business - at the expense of all the community efforts to improve this neighborhood should be a nonstarter when presented to the Baltimore City Council. The area is saturated with drug treatment centers, methadone clinics, halfway houses - and of course, open air drug markets. Do not allow all the investments - both private and public - to be undone by allowing this money making drug treatment center to exist in a building that was renovated at great expense for a Learning Center - that was a permitted use that was really beneficial to this community. Please VOTE AGAINST a ZONING CHANGE for this address.
I am a neighbor. I want safe and healthy development. This is not that.
Please do not allow an addiction building to exist at 1200 West Baltimore street. Thank you.

If one was sincerely interested in helping those struggling with addiction then why in the world would one bring recovering addicts to a location directly across the street from an open-air drug market? Perhaps being offered drugs every time one leaves the facility has been shown to facilitate long-term sobriety? Perhaps the operators believe their clients will be magically protected from bullets (the latest shooting victim on that block was shot three days ago, March 15)? I’d love to see some evidence that this proposed facility is less about the financial well-being of the operators than the well-being of the clients. If anyone you love and care about is in need to treatment I would highly urge you to help find a facility where their health and well-being wouldn’t be so much in jeopardy.
