I was looking at the traffic on Thornton Lane again this morning and honestly it is just getting worse every single day. People keep sending me messages about the near misses at Field Head which is honestly terrifying because it feels like just a matter of time before something happens. I am trying to get a meeting with someone at the council who will actually listen instead of just handing me a generic brochure.

Stop the increase of heavy vehicles through our village. We already experience considerable noise and pollution from the existing traffic and an increase would be intolerable. We are a village NOT a thoroughfare for heavy goods traffic at all hours of the day. If the company needs to expand its operation they should find appropriate premises with suitable access rather than requesting an increase to hours for their vehicles to benefit their own operation but to have a negative impact on the local community. This proposal is to the huge detriment of local people. There is no benefit to us - just increased pollution and noise.
The noise and air pollution around this area is already so high due to the amount of lorries that pass through. Any more lorries will have a even more negative impact on people's health and wellbeing. The constant movement of lorries on the a50 and around our villages affects our rest in the evenings and sleep, not only the day and our weekends. Please, no more lorries!! Let us have our rest and reduce our stress of driving in and out of peak times.
We have lived at Field Head for 30 years and the density of traffic has increased measurably over the years. The proposed hours for deliveries to the Poundstretcher depot will seriously affect the enjoyment of our property.
Our house shakes everytime one of these lorries go by, they mount the pavement occassionly on what is a narrow road, with a 40 mile an hour limit and god forbid one of them should ever hit a pedestrian by mounting the pavement, or with their wing mirror. They should not be allowed to go through Ratby Lane, Markfield, but via the M1/A50/A46 major roads only.
The country lanes being used are not suitable for the heavy lorry traffic currently being experienced, so dangerous and too narrow in parts. Please let common sense confirm that further heavy traffic would be madness. The speed and size of the lorries as they head towards you and squeeze past you is frightening.
Too many heavy vehicles for country roads - danger to crossing road in village, danger when cycling, noise pollution, fume pollution.
Road not built for all the lorries, and surely it would not be in the emissions target interest to have more.

Absolutely no more lorries please. I was pulling out of countryman way a couple of weeks ago and a great big articulated lorry (which wasn’t there when I pulled out) hurtled up behind me and neatly didn’t stop. I had my three year old daughter in the car. The thought of it still gives me nightmares. The estate is residential. Whether we have more lorries or not the speed limit should be reduced to 30 anyway
