The Wildlife Coalition Save the Meadow campaign seeks to preserve and protect the meadow (delineated by Fawn Way, N. Lower Valley Rd, Bear Valley Rd, and S. Lower Valley Rd) in its entirety. This meadow is the last, large open space on the valley floor owned by the CSD and designated as common area land. Most important, this meadow is a critical habitat for our wildlife and for the ecosystem as a whole. The Wildlife Coalition believes that wildlife are residents of BVS and that we are their voice. For this reason, the Wildlife Coalition cannot support any new development on this lot, now or in the future. **You NEED to have a TRACT/LOT in BVS in order to sign this petition.**

Updates

February 14, 2022

Legal counsel is currently reviewing the CSD land designation documents to determine how the meadow is classified under current zoning ordinances. We are preparing a formal letter to present at the next board meeting to ensure our position on development is entered into the official record.

February 14, 2022

The scale of local interest has prompted the CSD board to add a discussion on the meadow to their upcoming agenda. I am preparing a formal brief that incorporates the land usage arguments identified in this petition for presentation at that meeting.

While I see the appeal of a bike area for kids, there are far too many negatives. I foresee elk or deer sleeping in a blind spot in the track and a racing kid happening upon it. This would cause severe injury to both the bike rider and the animal! Save the meadow!

This area is a flood plain and should be left alone to help replenish the water table.

Saving the meadow for the wildlife and for the overall appearance of BVS must out weigh the revenue from the sales of the lots.

Bike park in the proposed location is totally inappropriate in my opinion. It is disruptive to the wildlife, it is unsupervised and potentially dangerous to bikers, and equestrians when as is now the case, bikers move onto the horse trails. Also we are losing the open spaces many of us moved here to enjoy.

My home in Golfari Ct is directly in front of the proposed location for the bmx park. (Small green two story house right on that part of the meadow. Not only will my property value and my daily life be decimated by the construction of a bmx park in that location, but every day I witness the comings and goings of the wildlife that live in that area. In my nearly 3 years in BVS I have taken thousands of photos and videos of the wildlife that frequent that area…herds of elk (I have video of them sparring), herds of deer, foxes, and bobcats are constantly through that area. I absolutely oppose this proposal.

Because the meadow bordered by San Juan and Cumberland is private and can be fenced/built out, the small remaining area owned by CSD should be preserved as natural, open, public space. I urge a No vote on the proposed bike park or any other future use that seeks to develops this area.

There must be other better places to put new things! Personally, I don't think we need another amenity in a whole new venue. Supposedly the population is changing and there are more families moving in who have young children than there used to be. Do we have to accommodate them? Or might they figure out what they want before they move here? This sounds like a mean old lady -- I am an old lady, but I'm not mean, just realistic.
