In the past few weeks, many parents in our community have come together to protest the irresponsible choice of the curriculum chosen for our 6th grade class at AMS. The book chosen, "History Alive, the medieval times and beyond" has been criticized in the past and even removed for its biased and indoctrinational tendencies. It holds one cultures religion and beliefs above another. It does not show a historical accuracy that an intelligent and proper study guide should, and sections of it read more like a religious manuscript, rather than a historical study. We all have our reasons for our petition to have this book removed and a RESPONSIBLE cuuriculum put in its place, but the biggest reason is it was NOT chosen with the well being of our children or their education. We have a parental RIGHT to have the Administration and educators who we entrust our children to daily, to show accountability and do the job they were trained to do. Our current class is not the only ones who are affected by this, many have younger children in the school system who will have to deal with this irresponsibility if it is not settled now. Don't let this affect them too. Thank you
I have spent this week reviewing the specific chapters that concern so many families in our district. It is becoming clear that the challenges in this curriculum extend far beyond a single classroom. While I wait for a formal response from the administration, I find great motivation in the stories you continue to submit about how these materials affect your children.

The steady growth of this petition shows that many of us share the same concerns about the quality of our children's education. This momentum confirms that our community expects historical accuracy and accountability in the classroom.

About time someone stood up to this. It is biased and just plain wrong for 6th grade.

My son came home with this book and I was shocked at the tone. School should be neutral not preaching to kids. Get this out of the classroom.
