24 Hour Fitness has been selling memberships in their clubs all across the U.S. for the past 8+ years on the premise that a person could buy in with a large down payment (ie., $700 or $800 for first 3 years) and then their dues would drop down to an low annual rate (ie. $29/year, $49/year, etc.). This annual rate was for the lifetime of the contract. In 2015, the corporate officials of this company have chosen to breach these contracts made with 1000's of customers by not only raising that lifetime annual rate but by raising it by 100% - 175% or in some cases even more.
We, the undersigned customers of 24 Hour Fitness, are speaking up to let the corporate officials know that we are angry with the choice that they have made to default on our contracts. We will make our voices heard by any all all methods available to us. We have already started a complaint forum on ConsumerAffairs.com. Complaints will be filed with the FTC & BBB. Legal action is being sought in the form of a class action suit against 24 Hour Fitness.

The emails from other affected members have been relentless and it is clear this breach of contract was no accident. I am currently organizing these testimonies to assist legal counsel as we prepare for the next phase of this fight. It is exhausting work but we are not going to let them just walk away from these agreements.

Seeing the count climb this high feels heavy because it confirms how many of us were cheated by this company. I am exhausted by the constant legal stalling but watching this community grow makes it impossible to walk away now.

I purchased a all-club Lifetime membership in 2004 for thousands of dollars as an initial payment in return for a $49 /year membership for life. Now I just received a letter that my membership will be canceled Nov 15, 2025. They have also removed my membership agreement from their website. They tried this a few years ago and got sued and lost and now they are trying it again.
Received an email that my lifetime membership since 2004 of $99/year will be terminated at renewal and an offer of $20 monthly payment and an annual fee of $59 totally $299 a year. This is a 200% increase. There needs to be another class action lawsuit.
24 fitness defrauded me by re negging on my original agreement from over 20 years ago
24hr hr emailed me and said my local club was closing and they were cancelling my membership. I have a 49 per year agreement with them for around 20 years. they are just trying to get out of these lifetime low rate agreements they sold in their early years. I would like to join legal action against them.
24 is greedy and I want my original promised rate
My membership was cancelled by 24 hour fitness, I complained to corporate & they opened an account for me in 2014 stating my membership would never increase. Unfortunetely this year it did and I have been going back & forth with them and they have chosen to be rude, send the wrong contract, and now ignore me as well as my complaint filed with the Better Business Bureau. Found the president of 24 hour fitness email & messaged directly. You can do the same: [email protected]
Had a 24 Hour Fitness lifetime membership of $29/year changed. Also had my all club access changed without approval. This after filing a petition back in 2017 that was supposed to protect my membership status. Planning to file a declaration to proceed in small claims court.

I've been a lifetime "all sport" contract member with 24 Hour Fitness since 2001. I received a letter that my membership was being canceled due to club closure. Like another member in this comment section, my contract allowed me multiple club usage so I also don't understand why I cannot gym at another club location. I have always kept up with paying my $99 annual and now they just decide to kick me to the curb?. That is dirty!
