1520/1530 Fulton Street Petition

We the tenants of 1520/1530 Fulton Street petition management to rectify the following two (2) issues:

(1) the in-unit elevators break frequently; endangering and inconveniencing tenants, children, and pets alike. At present, the elevators are non-operational approximately one or two times per week. There have been fourteen total incidents including four that have resulted in FDNY forcibly breaking into the elevators to extract tenants. Two of which required FDNY to forcibly enter apartments. All of these incidents occurred between March 7th, 2021 and May 27th, 2021.

(2) courtyard furnishing has not been delivered in a timely fashion despite commitments from management. At present, the courtyard does not have ample furniture for tenants to use. The courtyard is an amenity that the tenants pay for and without proper furnishing, it is unusable. Tenants should not be expected to subsidize furniture for a rental building in order to utilize a public area.

As a collective, we demand that the above two issues be resolved immediately and that compensation for prior and future inconveniences be issued in the interim in the form of rent reduction. Failure to meet these demands will result in tenants withholding full rent payment until the issues are resolved.

Our happiness and more importantly our safety is of the utmost importance and we expect the state and availability of the building’s amenities to be as they were advertised prior to signing our lease agreements.
