**Petition for the Care, Security, and Preservation of 672 Powell Street**

**To the Property Management and Residents of 672 Powell Street:**

We, the undersigned, are residents and stakeholders of 672 Powell Street, increasingly concerned by the ongoing damage, disturbances, and security threats impacting our building. While we appreciate the diversity of our community, recent activities have compromised the comfort, safety, and well-being of all residents. This petition calls for immediate action to address these urgent concerns.

**The Issues:**

1. **Damage and Misuse of Common Areas**:

- **Laundry Room**: Frequent misuse and vandalism have disrupted access and required costly repairs.

- **Lobby**: Vandalism in the lobby has reduced the quality and welcoming nature of our building’s entrance.

- **Elevators**: Unsupervised tampering has led to frequent outages, leaving the elevators out of service for days or even weeks, causing major inconvenience for all residents.

2. **Uncontrolled Litter and Mess**:

- Daily littering and garbage accumulation in hallways and on multiple floors has created an unsanitary and unpleasant environment.

3. **Security and Safety Concerns**:

- **Theft and Missing Packages**: Package theft and vandalism have increased due to unsecured entry points and limited monitoring.

- **Gang Activity and Tenant Harassment**: Reports of gang members loitering in hallways, smoking marijuana and cigarettes, banging on random doors, and making threats toward residents have become an alarming issue, contributing to a heightened sense of fear and insecurity among tenants.

- **Professional Security**: We believe that hiring professional security personnel, potentially armed, would deter these incidents, providing necessary oversight and peace of mind.

4. **Pet Waste in Hallways and Common Areas**:

- There have been frequent instances of pets relieving themselves in hallways and other shared spaces, impacting hygiene and the general atmosphere of our building.

5. **Access Control for Elevators and Vulnerable Areas**:

- To prevent unauthorized access and ensure safety in shared areas, residents are requesting access control requirements for the elevators and other vulnerable locations within the building, such as entryways, mail/package rooms, and hallways.

**Our Requests:**

To restore and maintain a safe, clean, and respectful community environment, we urge property management to implement the following measures:

- **Increased Supervision**: Remind parents and guardians of their responsibility to supervise minors in common areas.

- **Harsh Consequences for Property Damage**: Enforce clear penalties for parents whose children are involved in vandalism or property damage, holding them accountable.

- **Enhanced Security**: Introduce professional security personnel (potentially armed) to patrol vulnerable areas—such as entryways, mail/package rooms, elevators, and hallways—to deter theft, vandalism, gang-related loitering, harassment, and disorderly conduct.

- **Access Control Systems**: Install access control measures on elevators and at other high-risk locations to ensure that only residents and authorized personnel can access these areas.

- **Stricter Pet Policies**: Establish and enforce policies to ensure that pets are not allowed to relieve themselves in hallways or other shared spaces.

- **Preventative Monitoring**: Install additional security cameras throughout the building to monitor high-risk areas.

By signing this petition, we collectively express our desire for a more secure, clean, and well-maintained community at 672 Powell Street. We respectfully urge property management to prioritize these concerns and take swift action to improve our building's conditions.

We are already very worried about where we live, how is it possible that we pay our rent and that we are living like this from this atrocity of packages being stolen, and the elevators being damaged and people who do not live here entering. This is already good, owners of these buildings, we urgently need a security man 24/7, he damages the laundry rooms where one washes clothes, the stairs are dirty, they urinate outside, the dirt from the dogs

I have been threatened with death, they are persistently ringing my doorbell late at night, they are kicking the walls, hitting balls against the walls and playing with bikes on the floors, they are throwing food waste in the hallways and in the elevator, they are yelling loud bad words at night. On two occasions they would not let me get on the elevator and pushed me. They are smoking marijuana inside the elevators and in the hallways. This building has no security any criminal can come in and do damage to the property as well as to any person. This building is too dangerous.

Please consider our plea! Our building and perimeter needs professional security to keep our building and packages safe, and to keep tenants from allowing their dogs to poop on our walking grounds and curb decor area.
