Petition: Vote NO on the Proposed Sports Complex

Save Our Neighborhood – Vote NO on the Sports Complex

We, the undersigned residents and supporters of our neighborhood, strongly oppose the proposed sports complex in our community.

While we support recreational opportunities for families and youth, this proposed development is not appropriate for our neighborhood location. The sports complex would bring significant negative impacts to an area that is already heavily congested due to traffic associated with the nearby zoo and existing attractions.

Our Concerns

Increased Traffic and Congestion

The roads serving our neighborhood already experience high traffic volumes. Adding a sports complex would significantly increase vehicle traffic, creating longer delays, more congestion, and greater difficulty for residents entering and leaving their homes.

Noise Pollution

Sporting events, tournaments, loudspeakers, whistles, crowds, and evening activities would create ongoing noise disturbances that would negatively affect the peaceful character of our neighborhood and reduce residents' quality of life.

Safety Risks

More traffic means increased safety concerns for children, pedestrians, cyclists, and families who use our neighborhood streets. The added volume of vehicles on roads that are already busy raises the risk of accidents and creates unnecessary hazards for residents.

Loss of Neighborhood Character

Our community is a residential neighborhood, not a commercial entertainment district. A large sports complex would fundamentally change the character of the area and negatively impact the environment that residents have worked hard to maintain.

Our Request

We respectfully urge local officials and decision-makers to VOTE NO on the proposed sports complex and instead seek locations that are better suited to accommodate large-scale sporting events and the traffic they generate.

Help us protect our neighborhood, preserve our quality of life, and maintain the safety of our community.

Vote NO on the Sports Complex.

Save Our Neighborhood.

Protect Our Families.

Keep Our Community Safe.

We respectfully ask for your support and your vote NO.

Zoning Meeting

July 31, 2026

Hello all, Unfortunately at last nights zoning meeting the zoning committee decided to push forth with rezoning the of Millies property from residential R1 to B2 for the sports complex. There is for all 25 acres. The zoning committee stated no one was interested in the property for residential so they are moving forward with this rezoning. It will goto the Village for approval now. This is to bad for the neighborhood.

We moved away from the QC to have a quiet town feel. TBK is doable for this. No need to bring this here!

Coal Valley should be a peaceful area apart from Quad City traffic. People love their neighborhoods the way they are, peaceful and safe from crazy congested traffic. Please leave this area alone and look somewhere else got this idea!!

Don't need a complex like this in this area. Build where so much damage to natural environment is not needed. Find another...better p l ace. Zoo area needs to be left natural.

Leave the country to the country. Stop killing the trees we breathe. Our community does not need this complex, we have parks and a zoo.

I dont like the idea of the noise and traffic in the area. As well as the desolvement of the hill which protects our houses from large scale damage from storms. Or the fact that the wetlands there will be pushed back potentially causing flooding issues for the neighborhood.
