Jackson, MO Residents- Say "NO" to Unnecessary Traffic and Overcrowding
SIGN NAME & ADDRESS, please.
We, the homeowners of Broadridge Subdivision and surrounding neighborhoods and businesses, are hereby petitioning the city council to block development on the corner lot of Independence and State Highway D for sole use of any number of apartment complexes, due to the reasons listed here within:
1) Noisy & Traffic Congestion
2) Increased Crime & Decreased Safety & Protection to our families, our school children, and our neighbors
3) Decrease in our property values
4) Decrease in quality public school education & state $ given
5) Sewage & Flooding Issues
We also ask that this lot remain zoned 0-1 and that this zoning be amended to remove the ability to construct any multi-family apartments or housing on zoned 0-1 Professional Development District.
Highlights of the current proposal for the property at the corner of Broadridge Drive and Independence (Route D)- across from Jackson Middle School:
-Construction of a 26-unit apartment complex (rent ranging from $550-700) on a 1.37 acre lot with approximately 49 parking spaces. Three sides of the building will be siding, with one side brick. Parking lot/Driveway for the complex will let out onto an already overcrowded Broadridge Drive.

I support the growth of Jackson and support the Jackson Schools but I live in that horrible mess ( built my house before the school ) and before you say yes.... try to drive thru there 9 months out of the year ....you will agree with me and say NO... we don't need anymore congestion over here !!
There is already too much traffic on Independence and Broadridge. An apartment building will add to an already congested area. I have contacted MODOT in the past trying to help add walkways and school crossings and was denied. We don’t not need any more traffic in that area.
This is not a good idea. The middle school is right on the corner. Traffic is bad enough there already. They crammed in all of those behind Orchard to the corner of Broadridge... enough already.
As my family navigates through this area, daily, I can attest that adding to the traffic density in this part of town by placing apartment buildings close to the Middle School would only bring about more traffic congestion. For the safety of our students and the residents of the City of Jackson, I am signing this petition.
I pick up my Grandkids at 3 school in that area. It is way too busy already. Lines on all the adjoining roads to pick them up! Way too much traffic already!
We moved here to enjoy peaceful living. Please don't ruin this city by letting it turn into another Cape Gieardeau.

I work at Jackson Middle School and I feel there is already more traffic in that area than safe for the number of students walking home in that area. Students cross the streets of Broadridge and Independence to get home. I also live about a mile from the land in question and I do not want a set of apartments built that close to my neighborhood. I take great pride in my property and its value. My fear is adding apartments of this nature will not help increase of value, but hurt the value of our homes. Please consider voting no to rezone the land. I build with understanding that the land would be developed in a way to maintain the surrounding established neighborhoods.
