This petition is to express our support for Ish, our much loved postman who has served our community with diligence, care and cheerfulness for many years. Many of you have probably wondered why he has not been delivering our mail and parcels of late. Sadly, he will not return to our community as he was unfairly dismissed after 23 years of unblemished service with Royal Mail on Friday 24th July.
At the end of May, Ish was involved in a minor incident while reversing his van in Dickens Heath, resulting in superficial injuries to a resident. The individual did not raise a complaint to Royal Mail and has given permission for this petition to be raised. Though there was only minor injury and no damage to his van, Ish diligently reported the accident to his manager. His reward for this honesty was dismissal without warning, having endured a long wait for Royal Mail to complete its disciplinary process.
Road safety matters, but fairness matters too and his dismissal is a completely disproportionate sanction. A good person who made a mistake should be judged with care, especially when they were open about what happened and have served their community faithfully for so long.
He has submitted an internal appeal with Royal Mail against his dismissal, but we fear he will not receive the fair treatment that he deserves unless we rally together quickly to show our support.
We call on Royal Mail to review Ish’s case with compassion and fairness, and to reinstate him to his delivery round in Dickens Heath with a more fair and proportionate sanction. Please join us and sign this petition as soon as possbile to help bring him back to his job and our community. We'd like to get the first 500 signatures quickly so we will post the petition on the Dickens Heath Facebook page, but please also share with your neighbours and friends in Dickens Heath as not everyone has access.
Thank you for your support, Claire and Nicholas.

Ish has just called me after his Friday prayers to thank everyone for their support and for all the kind words said about him. It is a great comfort to him and his family and offers encouragement at a very difficult time while he waits to hear when his appeal will be heard. Now that we have passed the 500 signature mark it's time to make the Royal Mail aware of the petition. We will wait until Monday to send an email as who knows if Friday afternoon emails get noticed! Some people have suggested that the local media should be involved. That may be a step to take but for now we'll keep it low key just in case it prejudices Ish's appeal. There have also been several offers of help from supporters who can act in a professional capacity to assist Ish. You know who you are and Ish thanks you very much.

Ish is an exceptional postman and has always been a credit to Royal Mail. We have always looked forward to his deliveries and the friendly welcome. He always asks after my Dad and I know he will be particularly diligent with parcels when I am not in. Ish is Royal Mail to us and he is an enormous loss to our community.
This guy has been saving our community for many years, along with a couple of others, here in Dickens Heath we haven’t had much change because there’s been no need for it. They provide a fantastic service and I’m shocked to find the Ish has been dismissed., it is typical of how Royal male treat their Staff these days
Ish is a valued postie in our village and a mistake like this should not warrant his instant dismissal. I hope Royal Mail reconsider the decision
I believe in fairness, and the well deserved compassion in such cases - indeed, something the Post Office has been grossly lacking in recent times. But I also miss Ish's cheery smile - his even acknowledging us when elsewhere in the village - and good service, after what I see must have been almost the whole time we've lived here.
Ish has been my postman since 2010 and is exceptional at his job. Nothing is too much trouble for him and he deserves a 2nd chance. This dismissal seems very unfair when he has had an unblemished record with RM for 23 years . I have known him for 16 of those and really look forward to his visits on my drive. Please re instate him
Best Royal Mail worker
Best postman I’ve ever had. Top bloke, heart of gold.

Ish has always looked after me, I’m disabled and if I wasn’t at mine he would always take my post up the road to my parents house, no bother and if my parents were not in he would bring it to me. Always went that little further.
