We, the undersigned residents of the Arniston Vale Estate in Gorebridge, respectfully ask that our regular postman, Paul Stewardson, be reinstated to our delivery route.
Our postman has become much more than someone who delivers our mail – he has become a valued part of our community. He is reliable, friendly, professional and genuinely cares about the people on our estate.
Every day, he goes above and beyond. He takes the time to greet residents, looks out for those who may be vulnerable, and provides a level of service that is increasingly rare. He knows many of us by name, and even the dogs and other pets on the estate eagerly wait to see him each day, tails wagging as he makes his rounds. These small moments reflect the genuine connections he has built within our community.
His consistency and dedication have earned the trust and respect of residents of all ages. We have recently learned that his route has been changed, and the news has been met with genuine sadness and disappointment across the estate. The difference in service is particularly noticeable whenever he is on annual leave, highlighting the exceptional standard of care, friendliness and commitment he brings to his role every single day.
We fully appreciate that operational changes are sometimes necessary. However, we believe the relationship he has built with our community demonstrates the real value of keeping experienced, dedicated postmen on the routes where they know the residents and are known in return.
We respectfully ask that this decision be reviewed and that every effort be made to return our regular postman to our estate. He is more than our postman—he is a familiar face, a reassuring presence, and someone who has become a cherished part of our community. His dedication, kindness and professionalism make a real difference to our daily lives, and we would be extremely grateful if you would consider the strength of feeling within our community.

Royal Mail have took the decision to remove our Postman to another route. There's absolutely no reason for them to do this. It's pointless. They say it's for the structure of the business. Our Postman is very unhappy about this decision as is the people who live on this estate. We have a good working Postman who goes above and beyond his role to make sure I receive my mail in time and in good state. His Customer Service is second to none. Iwould like Royal Mail to reconsider this pointless move.
