Gas stations in San Luis Obispo, CA currently offer unleaded gas as the only form of fuel for our vehicles (non electric). It's time that we demand alternatives for our fuel. Specifically, Ethanol (also known as E85). E85 burns cleaner than gas, it's cheaper and it even increases your vehicles performance! Currently, there are 106 gas stations across 71 cities in California that offer E85 as a fuel alternative. These numbers continue to grow. Economically, the average price of unleaded gas in California is $3.55 per gallon in comparison to E85 at $2.85. Some of you may already own a vehicle that runs on E85 (Flex Fuel) but since there are no gas stations that offer E85 in San Luis Obispo (76 station in Atascadero is the closest), you are left with no other option but to use dirty, expensive unleaded gas....or drive over the grade to fuel up. What if your car only uses gas? Not to worry, there are conversion kits available online (see below) that will allow your car to run on E85 and/or unleaded gas. Considering the minimal cost to install a conversion kit in comparison to the savings on fuel costs and the environment, it makes sense. So, I am reaching out to my fellow San Luis Obispo residents to join me in the consumer movement to demand E85 as an alternative fuel source in our city. A locally owned and operated gas station has already expressed interest in the idea and is considering offering E85 at their pumps! With your support, we can help convince them to make this a reality! Thank you for your time and interest.

Updates

February 20, 2021

I have been in direct talks with a local station owner about the logistics of installing an E85 pump. Send an email to your City Council representative today to pressure them to approve the necessary permits for this transition.

Reaching this level of support confirms that our community is ready for cheaper and cleaner fuel options. Reach out to three friends today and ask them to sign because we need to show our local station owners that the demand is real. Post this link on your Facebook page right now to keep this momentum moving forward.

I own a converted ethanol Subaru WRX, and go to Cal Poly. We need ethanol fuel in San Luis Obispo immediately.

Sick of driving all the way to Atascadero just to fill up my truck. SLO needs to step up already.

If I wish to buy it and retailers wish to sell it, why is it not available?
