Whitetail deer population in the Clearwater region has had a dramatic decline in the last few years. To protect the deer we have left we need to act. Idaho fish and game has sold out on this resource and we need to take it back.
I would like to propose the closure of all deer hunting in our region on November 3rd every year for the next five years. This will achieve several goals. It will put our deer back into normal rut activity, more mature bucks and better buck doe ratios. It will also bring back populations and earlier birthing cycles. We think this has to be done to bring back our once great deer herds. Idaho Fish and Game will fight this to the end because of lost revenue.
Please help our Clearwater deer before it’s too late.
Our deer herds are being sold for revenue not biological management. Drastically cut the number of non resident tags and stop trading our deer and elk for operating capital.

I have been driving ten hours to hunt whitetail deer and spend about 1000 dollars in the north idaho area . The first year saw lots of nice bucks 5 years later in 2017 never saw a buck bigger tan a fork horn and ate my tag!!! Sad that some one that is paid to manage wildlife only cares about selling tags then when asked says well idaho is a opportunity state

Couldn't agree better with this petition. The mature buck population is really low.

They disappeared from our property which is about 30 -45 min south of the Clearwater about 10 or so years ago! Was told it was the mule deer that were driving them out but when the other is being over hunted of course the mulies will move in.

Yes we need to make some changes but cutting out hunting during the rut is going to prevent a lot of people from backing you. It would be the same as cutting out archery elk season as that is during the rut for that spesis. It's not just our deer in trouble but our elk as well
