Please sign this petition to save the innocent deer that live in South Mountain Reservation in West Orange, NJ. The damage that has been done in the reservation is from people, mountain bikers, and neglect rather than the deer. The number of deer is grossly overcalculated. I have run in the reservation every day for 1-1/2 years and it is rare that I see a deer. The money for the deer hunt should be spent to maintain the trails and picnic areas not for slaughtering. Since the hunters have begun going to the park the trails have huge divits from their pick-up truck tires and the woods are marred by the tires of their ATV\'s. And this hunt is supposed to help preserve the woods Our county park system is the oldest in the nation and there has never been hunting. Shouldn\'t the animals have a safe haven Shouldn\'t we have a place in which to enjoy the animals
