The rapid growth of the cannabis production industry has revealed glaring holes in the laws governing such operations. We, the citizens of St. Catharines, demand that the City immediately pass bylaws that prevent cannabis production and processing facilities from setting up operation anywhere within City of St. Catharines urban boundaries and require facilities to be a minimum of 1.5 kilometres away from any residential area. In addition, the City should commit to eliminating any loop-holes in bylaws that would allow cannabis producers from establishing grow-op production facilities within urban boundaries.

No cannabis production within at least 1.5 km of any residence. At # 376 Read road a greenhouse is now full of cannabis and it stinks the entire area up. A second greenhouse on read road just sold. i can only guess what they will be growing next. Property values will plummet.
While I support the production of cannabis for health and recreational purposes, production facilities should not be permitted within the City of St. Catharines' urban boundaries.
This location is way to close to Happy Rolphs where young families like to gather. I have read that active growing locations have many complaints of odours and I believe this is a horrible location for that reason.
This is too close to residential. There should be a distance requirement from residential. St Catharines has a lot of Industrial land that this can be built on that is not close to residential. Look along the QEW where you can see vast areas of industrial land perfect for this.
This is right in our backyard. I have been angry about the light pollution that is happening out in Niagara on the Lake, appalled that nothing has been done about it. Our subdivision is new and growing families and seniors moved here for the quietness of the area. The cannabis production in no way should be next door to a residential community.

5 days of continuous odour at our home...this should not be allowed. Please fix this city council.

It is not enough to have the production confined to agricultural/industrial areas. It needs to be a distance from established residential areas. Cannabis production has an extreme and pungent byproduct that should not be inflicted on homeowners who pre-date the legality of the production.
