The undersigned property owners and residents of the Pozo area oppose the Scott Pitchess/ Pegaso proposed commercial marijuana cultivation, processing, and distribution site located at 12415 River Road, Santa Margarita, Ca. We will be significantly impacted by this project.

The location for this industrial complex is on a narrow dirt road, in a high fire danger area far from law enforcement response, and has a history of water shortage problems. It is in direct conflict with the agriculture-residential character of the neighborhood and will have adverse affects on the legacy farming and ranching operations in the area, in addition to being detrimental to the health, safety, and welfare of the wildlife and persons residing and visiting the neighborhood.

This location is the wrong place for an industrial cannabis operation.

Updates

July 15, 2020

Refining our formal arguments against the industrial site at 12415 River Road remains the primary focus. I have been gathering evidence regarding the water constraints and fire safety hazards specific to our region to present before the planning commission.

July 15, 2020

The groundswell of opposition to this project confirms that our community remains committed to preserving the character of Pozo. This momentum demonstrates that the concerns regarding safety and water usage are widely shared by those who value our local landscape.

we have no water for our families just to live, if they use water to "grown" then what good is that for the families that are there to just live. Water is not an option to live it is a necessity. Our water is already barely there with the drought this grow needing over 5000 gallons of water a day wiukd be devastating for the neighborhood.

A commercial cannabis cultivation, processing, and distribution facility is completely at odds with the rural character of this area, cannot be serviced by the existing well regardless of the proponents' claims, and increases risk of crime to local residents. It should not be approved.

Socio-cultural times change, but this project does nothing positive for the area workforce since the employees will be taking the train to work from out of the area. Additionally, what useage will not only "drain" an already arid region, but will place additional stress on infrastructure

Excessive emergency response time + very narrow, extremely dilapidated public access road with several blind turns and few pull-outs + entire site and surrounding area for several miles designated as the highest fire hazard severity in the State + historically limited water supply = a site completely unsuitable for commercial cannabis.

The fertilizers in our waterways will make their way into Santa Margarita Lake which is drinking water for many. The owners of the company, and land are from out of town. A few get rich at the expense of the local people that love the land. Parkhill Road is very dangerous as it is, add 120 people there will be accidents. I don't trust these people.

SLO County already stinks of cannabis just about everywhere. We need to stop this inundation of cannabis farms or it will ruin the quality of life on the Central Coast.
