Children, parents and grandparents in Swampscott want safe, quality playing fields for kids to learn and play athletics. Because of a lack of investment by the Town over the last 25 years, the soccer, lacrosse, football and field hockey grass fields are unsafe and not a suitable learning or playing environment.

The time has come for the town government and specifically, the Selectmen, to place an article on the fall town meeting warrant allowing Town Meeting members to vote on funding a $1.5 million turf field at Philips park using existing free cash.

The current standard of fields in Swampscott shows its residents and visitors that we do not care about our children.

It is time to make an investment in the physical needs of our children.
