The Top 3 Reasons for Field Turf in Shakopee:

1. What single field related investment will impact the broadest range of programs and young athletes? Teams such as football, soccer, lacrosse, baseball, softball and a variety of others can utilize a turf facility…at both the youth and high school levels.

2. Surrounding communities have been investing in field turf for a number of years. In fact, they continue to invest in them. Why? It simply makes sense. There is little argument that investing in field turf makes long-term financial sense given the lower maintenance costs toward the fields. Additionally, teams need access to a facility in early spring when the weather is unpredictable. Field turf can be available for play much earlier than natural grass due to its synthetic nature and drainage systems. Finally, look around us. The list of communities who have field turf complexes (and many have multiple fields!) include: Prior Lake, Eden Prairie, Chaska, Chanhassen, Edina, Minnetonka, Lakeville, Bloomington, Burnsville…and the list goes on and on. It’s now time for Shakopee to be added to the list.

3. Although the path upon which our school district will travel is still being evaluated, this shouldn’t prevent continued investment in our youth. We need to remember that whether Shakopee supports one high school or two, we will ALWAYS be ONE school district and ONE community. An investment in field turf today will benefit our entire community…for many years to come!

I really never imagined this many people would care about our local fields. Seeing 250 signatures pop up is entirely down to your willingness to speak up for our kids.

I am honestly overwhelmed by how many people care about this field project. We are nearing a significant milestone that might finally get some attention from the district. Please think of a neighbor who would want to see this happen and pass this page along to them.

I am honestly a bit overwhelmed by the support this has received so far. If you can send this link to a few neighbors today we might actually cross the one hundred mark together.

Shakopee is getting left behind. My son plays lacrosse and they are always traveling to other cities for fields. We need this at home.

Our youth programs are growing so fast. If we want to keep up with Prior Lake and the others we gotta upgrade the facilities. Do it.

YES. It makes zero sense to keep paying to fix grass fields that get ruined after one rain storm. Long term this saves money for the district.

My daughter is sick of the turf burn jokes but honestly it beats playing in the dirt. Please get this done for our athletes.

Too much mud and cancelled games. Enough is enough.

Every other town around us has this figured out already. Kids in this city deserve a place to play without worrying about a mud pit come April.
