Please show your support for an outdoor community pool at Weed Beach!
Darien residents overwhelmingly voted for a pool as their top choice in a recent survey for the Weed Beach Expansion Plan. An outdoor community pool at Weed Beach is long overdue and would not only be a logical fit, but also aesthetically pleasing.
The lifeblood of this town are families. Many sign-up on multi-year waiting lists at clubs all over Fairfield County hoping to pay thousands of dollars for the use of an outdoor pool. A pool at Weed Beach would provide an affordable option that is sorely needed.
As with any change, there are always a small minority of detractors. Most of them are longtime residents who live close to Weed Beach and simply do not want a pool “in their backyard”. To thwart the plan, they instead claim that a pool would be unfeasible in that location. Yet, they vehemently oppose the town conducting the appropriate studies to determine its feasibility!
By signing this petition, you are indicating your support for a pool at Weed Beach --- you call for the Parks & Recreation Commission to vote in favor of passing the current plan along to the proper committee to explore its feasibility on May 18th, 2016.

Even if Weed Beach is not a feasible location, the demand and support for an outdoor Darien community pool is CLEAR. A dedicated Parks & Rec committee should be appointed to make this a reality - if not at Weed Beach (which would be the ideal location) then somewhere else in town!
I support the development and construction of a community pool at Weed Beach. Additionally, the plans should include a child/toddler pool so that parents and grandparents of young children can have a place to enjoy as well. The town does a great job of fostering child development, the time has come for a pool that is accessible to all residents of Darien.
I haves lived here 20 years and so tired of a few High end properties blocking a pool down at weed beach. We should tally the number of people that swim in the sound on a hot day in July and of course any day after a storm. It's time our town finally added a pool to a ideal park location, Weed Beach.
Full support - families in Darien need an adorable option for swimming. Private clubs are not achievable for many. This would enhance our community spirit. And provide kids with a great way to spend the summer!
Live in Darien. Currently giving $$ to Stamford for a summer pool membership, and their "local" caterer is in Greenwich. Let's bring that to Darien.
A pool is definitely needed!!

We have lost wonderful buyers, families, from our town, hurting our real estate values because they picked New Canaan over us, because NC had a pool! Lets make Darien an even more special place to live!
