Please show your support for an outdoor community pool at Weed Beach!

Darien residents overwhelmingly voted for a pool as their top choice in a recent survey for the Weed Beach Expansion Plan. An outdoor community pool at Weed Beach is long overdue and would not only be a logical fit, but also aesthetically pleasing.

The lifeblood of this town are families. Many sign-up on multi-year waiting lists at clubs all over Fairfield County hoping to pay thousands of dollars for the use of an outdoor pool. A pool at Weed Beach would provide an affordable option that is sorely needed.

As with any change, there are always a small minority of detractors. Most of them are longtime residents who live close to Weed Beach and simply do not want a pool “in their backyard”. To thwart the plan, they instead claim that a pool would be unfeasible in that location. Yet, they vehemently oppose the town conducting the appropriate studies to determine its feasibility!

By signing this petition, you are indicating your support for a pool at Weed Beach --- you call for the Parks & Recreation Commission to vote in favor of passing the current plan along to the proper committee to explore its feasibility on May 18th, 2016.
