The Town’s single indoor pool is inadequate to serve our current population. The Town has doubled in size since that pool was built and currently rents time at Trinity College and Terry Pool (in East Hartford) to support resident activities. We have limited year-round pool availability for recreation and fitness purposes, long waiting lists for swim lessons and swim team, overcrowded practices, and fewer available aquatic programs than comparable towns within our state. A new aquatic center, with an indoor/outdoor pool and related facilities, would benefit the entire community and position Glastonbury as an even more attractive community in which to live. We, the undersigned, support the building of an aquatic center within the Town of Glastonbury, and are formally petitioning the Town to study the feasibility, including cost and availability of funding, of such a project.
