We the undersigned hereby petition the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) to construct the North Gallatin 161-kV transmission line using what they have identified as Route 2 instead of Route 1. We recognize that Route 1 would take advantage of existing easements; however, those easements were purchased over 4 decades ago prior to the development of several subdivisions that now include those easements. Route 2 has the least impact on properties with residences, both in terms of properties that would be under the transmission lines and in terms of adjacent properties. Route 1 passes over 39 properties with homes, while Route 2 covers 18 properties with homes. 13 of those properties with homes are common to both routes and will be impacted regardless of which route is selected. So, in terms of direct impact, selecting Route 2 affects 5 additional properties with homes while Route 1 includes 26 additional properties with homes. In addition, because the subdivisions on Route 1 have smaller lot sizes, there are many more properties with homes adjacent to the properties that include the right of way. Construction of this important infrastructure improvement will create a visual eyesore in the landscape no matter where it is located in our beautiful Sumner County. We urge you to choose Route 2 for this transmission line to limit the number of individuals who will be negatively impacted.
