We are opposed to the building of a 180 foot communications tower within the residential community of Powder Horn Mountain in Deep Gap, NC for the reasons listed below. This petition will be submitted to the Watauga County Commissioners, requesting them to select an alternative site for the tower which is not in a residential community.
- There are multiple homes within 180 feet of the tower site.
- We do not feel safe with such a large tower next to our roads and homes.
- We can experience wind gusts up to 50 miles per hour along with snow and ice.
- Falling ice may damage the adjacent water tower.
- We have health concerns over radio waves, especially for compromised individuals.
- We want to preserve the natural beauty and sight lines of our community.
- We want to uphold the residential character of our community.
- Our neighborhood will become less attractive to current and future property owners.
- We expect devaluation of our properties if the tower is built.

Who thought this was a good idea? That tower is way too close to our houses. Not safe at all with the ice storms we get here.
180 feet is way too high for a neighborhood like ours. It will be an eyesore and ruin the view for everyone living nearby. Find somewhere else.
TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE. keep the towers away from our homes.
My property value is gonna tank if they put that thing up. Just build it on the other side of the ridge where nobody lives.
Ridiculous proposal. We moved to Powder Horn for the nature not to stare at a giant metal eyesore from our porch.
