What a shame to have this beautiful historic house sit and fall into ruin! The longer it sits the harder it's going to be to get this house back to it's former glory. What is the city waiting for?!!

I have waited many years to visit this historic house and have given up. I am a connoisseur of fine art , antiques and historic interiors and travel the globe just visiting house museums. I cannot understand why this iconic house does not get the funds it needs and the sanctioning of the local authority to open again.

I hope SD isn't intentionally letting in deteriorate so they can say "oops! Gotta knock it down" and, in its place, put up an ugly modern building no one cares about!

I love the Villa Montezuma. I wish there was something I could do to help preserve it.

I would like to volunteer my building expertise to the renovation of such magnificent jewel, as I'am sure lots of other craftsmen would feel privileged to do so. feel free to count on mr when time comes.

This precious piece of San Diego history needs to be restored and opened for all to enjoy and have the experience of history.

It makes no sense that this beautiful property can't be admired & enjoyed by SD residents & visitors. Why turn down the ability to earn revenue from charging an entrance fee... These days with the numerous ghost hunting shows on tv... The villa would be a destination sought by travelers world wide...just as the Whaley house is.

What a beautiful building. Remaining vacant puts in in jeopardy of falling into disrepair. If SOHO is willing to operate and manage the Villa Montezuma that sounds like a perfect solution to saving this remarkable building.

We can not afford to let this fall into disrepair. This place needs to be open for all to see. SOHO would seem to be the perfect choice to manage that and keep this around for generations to come.

Reopening and restoring Villa Montezuma would cost the taxpayers nothing. Why wouldn't this be done?

The SOHO seems to be doing a great job with its other projects, such as the Marston House. I hope the historic landmark that is Villa Montezuma does not fall into a state of decay or looting because of its inactivity and lack of upkeep/restoration.

Let SOHO keep this property from any further decay. It's a beauty, but it must be maintained and showcased!

Whatever it takes, this landmark must be preserved.

Please consider transferring management of the house to SOHO. Their track record with the Marston House and other historic San Diego landmarks appears to speak for itself. Please take action soon so that one of San Diego's most important homes can be saved, restored, and reopened to the public for all to appreciate.

Please reopen the Villa Montezuma Museum soon. It is a historic place that enriches San Diego and provides tourists and residents alike with another wonderful venue.

My mother & I enjoy visiting all the San Diego museums & was fortunate enough to visit Villa Montezuma in the 1980's. I would love to see it opened again--maybe host "teas" or corporate parties--anything to make it self sufficient.

As a member of the National Trust for Historic Preservation and the Indiana Landmark Society, I have seen many positive returns to cities that invest in historic properties. This one is a gem, and worth the effort and money.

What a waste - obviously this neighborhood, the people of San Diego, and the Villa Montezuma would benefit from reopening the house.

The Villa Montezuma is my favorite museum in San Diego and definitely the most interesting and fasinating. If there were a small tour bus that charged from Balboa Park to take tourist there, it would get the attention it deserves as most people do not even know it exists.

Villa Montezuma is among San Diego’s most interesting sites, both aesthetically and historically. Why would the City not want it restored and open to the public? And in SOHO, we have an organization with the demonstrated ability to bring this about. GO FOR IT!

Loved visiting Villa Montezuma as a young adult. SOHO has done really well by the Whaley House, the Old Adobe Chapel, & the Marston House, so why not give them a chance to run Villa Montezuma?

i am the historian for the First Spiritualist Church of San Diego and a native San Diegan. THe High brothers who built the Villa for Jesse Shepard were founders and members of our church so we have a strong historical connection the the Villa. Our members would love to see the Villa open for events and we would love to help bring Spiritualism back to the Villa.

Please allow this beautiful structure to be seen and used by San Diegans and others again. With the horrific shortage of housing and space here, there is no excuse to let such a monument sit empty and unused all this time. If you refuse to allow SOHO to manage and reopen it to the public, then make it a boarding house again or a public health or counseling center and let your citizens benefit from it. It's wasteful and disgusting to allow this building to sit as it is, open only quarterly for 15 minute tours to a limited number of people. It's sickening that the city would allow this to continue.
