We, the friends and admirers of Mohatta Palace Museum, wish to retain it as a Museum as it is a vitally important cultural centre in Karachi and the country as a whole.
It is the one museum in Pakistan that has had a measure of international recognition. It hosts spectacular exhibitions of contemporary art ranging from the works of Sadequain, Jamil Naqsh and Rashid Rana. It has had periodic internationally acclaimed exhibitions on the ceramic traditions of Pakistan, cartography, textiles, portraiture, calligraphy, sculpture, and photography.
It would be an incalculable loss if Mohatta Palace ceased to function as a Museum.

I support this petition & ask the authorities concerned to stop it henceforth from using its premises as a wedding Lawns venue. Nowhere in the world the Museums or its annexes are used for commercial purpose like renting for wedding receptions.
It's a dumb idea. Mohatta Palace is heritage listed building. It is already being used as a cultural institution, it is not suitable for the requirements of a modern medical and dental college, and it will be ruined as a heritage building if one is forced into it.
Mohatta Palace fulfils a role as a cultural institution not only in Karachi but also in Pakistan like no other. It is a world-class museum serving the needs of the arts and local communities. We need to do all that we can to protect it for future generations and the good the good of the country.
Where there’s a dearth of cultural institutions in the country contributing as patrons of art and culture, Mohatta Palace Museum has had a remarkable stature. To put the institution to any other use would be an irredeemable mistake. Please allow it to continue serving its agenda.

The Dental College should not be allowed because the exhibits they have there from time to time are superb.One place where we can see n show off our culture ,our heritage etc and our children can learn so much as well as us!!
