The Villa Carlotta, located on 5959 Franklin Ave. is a historic building and for years has been a home for artists and activists. The residents are now being unjustly evicted and we are determined to preserve this beautiful building and ensure that the rental rights of these tenants are protected. The Villa Carlotta and its community represent a sector of Los Angeles that is fading fast due to the implementation of the Ellis Act. We insist that the beautifully intact units be preserved and allow residents a right of return. We are fighting to protect this way of life and support the artistic community of Los Angeles.

The momentum behind this fight proves that Los Angeles is finished watching greedy developers dismantle our history. These landlords think they can just bulldoze our community for profit but they are about to learn exactly how wrong they are.

My father lived there in 1954 and had friends that lived there for years. It was a big part of my childhood. It is the most perfectly preserved buildings from the 1920s.

The way CGI Strategies has treated these tenants and this historical building should be a crime. The people are what make the history and it is clearly now in the hands of a soulless profiteering speculators who will see numbers before charm. It's a crying shame and the neighborhood and businesses will suffer with this great loss.

as the travesty of the eviction of its residents is massive and irrevocable, at least have the decency to prevent a rezoning that would allow it's conversion to a hotel

i have lived in Franklin Village for 17 years. The heart of this community is The Villa Carlotta! What is happening is a disgrace to the residents and the community. The building is a landmark of the neighborhood and should be left as it is. We don't want nor need a hotel, especially one run by such heartless, greedy people!!! Save our beloved Carlotta and our little hideaway.

Tenants have been through hell for two years now, after the building was sold twice. The ones who were expelled live far away and are miserable. The Carlotta community is the heart of Franklin Village. The historical, cultural and social importance of the Carlotta as it is, with these tenants, and with rent-control, is priceless for Hollywood and the City of Los Angeles

I am a resident of the Villa Carlotta, and I want to thank the people who started this petition. What is happening to us will continue happening in greater Los Angeles unless there is meaningful reform of the Ellis Act. Hope to see people at our public event on Tuesday, 4/21 @ 3pm for a public demonstration!
