Petition In Support of the Restoration of Valley Pond Park: We, the residents of Manhasset, call upon Town Supervisor, Jon Kaiman, to develop and put forth a financial plan to revitalize Valley Pond Park to create a more functional park while preserving the natural beauty and existing wetlands that currently exist. Furthermore we call upon Supervisor, Kaiman to: 1. Expand the athletic use of the park by re-positioning and turfing the existing baseball field and adding a new turfed multi-purpose field to the park 2. Beautify the surrounding natural environment by repairing walkways, redoing fencing, removing dead or dying trees and replacing them with new trees to create a self-sustaining park while increasing the natural light to the park 3. Re-open bathroom facilities to provide safe and convenient facilities 4. Reconfigure the playground area to provide a safe, state of the art playground facility. Reposition the playground to a more feasible location within the park 5. Reconfigure the parking to better accomodate the use of the park 6. Remediate the wetlands by removing harmful species and by cleaning and dredging the water channels to provide better water flow through the park.
