We, the undersigned, are neighbors who want Little Bay Park, by Fort Totten in Bayside, to be better than it is today — for the families who walk it, the kids who play there, and everyone in our community.
This plan gives our community:
- The overgrown waterfront path cut back, repaired, and kept clean
- Real lighting at the entrance and along the water, so it feels safe
- Benches facing the bay, and sitting areas kept in good repair
- Restroom access at the entrance during park hours
- New plantings and a proper park sign — and a standing crew that keeps it all up, week after week
The park stays public. No park land is taken away. The historic fort is not touched.
One small vertiport building at the entrance is what makes it possible — it pays for the cleanup and the upkeep, year after year, with private money. Not city money, and not one dollar from taxpayers. Flights are next-generation aircraft only, by reservation, daytime to start, in and out over the water.
We ask Council Member Vickie Paladino, Queens Community Board 7, NYC Parks, State Senator John Liu, and Assembly Member Edward Braunstein to give this plan a fair hearing and tell the builder the lawful path to build it.
It is important because it brings private money to fix the entrance to the park, without costing anything to the city, and the park remains public for everyone.
