After 3 years of unsightly algae, foul odor and increased mosquitos we want our pond back! The Park District has attempted to fix the problem with chemical treatments and the installation of an aerator, but the excessive algae growth continues to be a problem at Hunters Woods Pond.

1) As tax payers you believe that this is an unacceptable condition for a public pond
2) You would like to have City of Naperville/Park District money allocated to dredge the pond ASAP

I came back from college this spring and was disgusted by our neighborhood "pond". It's a health hazard and absolutely unacceptable for a town like ours to let a public pond, located in a residential area, become this repulsive and unsanitary.
As taxpayers of Hunters Woods the pond should be a place for my children to enjoy. Instead it is disgusting, bug infested and not acceptable. It's embarrassing that a petition has to be created. The City needs to actually invest in the complete restoration of this park instead of treating it with "bandaids" that obviously are ineffective.
This pond is particularly visible to the wider Naperville community because so many families use the park in the summer while visiting the library. The Hunter's woods park is very popular with families outside of the neighborhood. Many taxpayers would benefit from the clean up of this pond.
The pond at Hunter's Woods is no place for children to enjoy nature in it's current condition. Please fix this property. It's unsightly, unsafe. If we want kids of today to appreciate nature and good old fashion fun in the outdoors, we need to make it nicer than sewer.
After spending tax dollars to change a good walk to cement and replace bridges, this seems like an issue to address. Would like to see it cleaned up.
We moved to Hunters Woods in 1993. Part of the reason was the park and the pond. This is the pond where our kids learned to fish. Unfortunately the pond is so full of scum and sludge, the only thing that grows in the pond is mosquito larvae and algae. Aeration is not the answer and neither are chemicals. For safety, the pond needs drained and dredged. The "creeks" and the feeding tributaries need cleaned and "de-weeded. The park, because no one likes to go near has been a haven for teens to use to drink and smoke their "cigarettes" legal or not. Please fix the pond!
What are you doing in my swamp! My childhood memories of fishing for really small blue gills and nerf wars with friends all gone. Keep the swamp!

I am very disappointed that our beautiful city has allowed this pond to look like it does. so many people drive past this pond daily. The city needs to fix the problem with the pond and also the stream that feeds into the pond has standing water which I am sure is helping the mosquitos and it smells very bad . please fix the pond and stream!!
