Our green belts and side walks in Table View are littered with Woolworths, Spar and Checkers Trolleys. They are used as vehicles for contaminated and stolen goods and then we use them for our groceries.
Its time that the big retailers are held to account by way of ensuring the trolleys do not leave the retail areas. They must install anti-theft devices on all trolleys.
We must stand together and hold them accountable.

Walking past the abandoned trolleys on my street used to feel like a losing battle, but seeing this level of momentum reminds me that we do not have to accept this decay as normal. The retailers are finally starting to notice the pressure we are putting on them to keep our neighborhood clean and safe.

Anti theft devices on trolleys are common place in many other countries and we need to keep trolleys off our streets. Big retailers need to be held accountable for every trolley that ends up in a greenbelt for enabling the dumping to take place. Enough is enough.
Stolen trolleys spread disease by means of the muck they are contaminated with and then simply put back into circulation. Increases the mobility of vagrants and allows them to transport more litter into our green belts. Retailers prosecute people for shoplifting, so why not for trolley theft, especially when a trolley is worth way more than the petty amount of goods taken by general shoplifters.
There needs to be much better control of trolleys at supermarkets. It is far too easy for vagrants to steal them. The cost of losing trolleys must be astonomical, but no doubt aborbed by the consumer with increased prices. Unacceptable
Retailers must take responsibility for their trolleys. They turn a blind eye to the theft of thousands of rands worth of trolleys daily, but then prosecute shoplifters for far less! Stop enabling crime and the deterioration of our green areas by effectively sponsoring these criminals.
I have called all the supermarket head offices but they are more concerned about social media backlash than their customers
Retailers and shopping centres must increase their security in order for the drunks and druggies not to enter their properties. It is for both, the shopping centres and the retailers like shoprrite, Woolies, PnP Checkers etc to be a part of the sulotion. Why must our tax money be spend on units recuperating these items?

I am a member of the TVNW and see what they do with and load in these trollies. Utterly disgusting. I'm too afraid to place my groceries in a trolley now, and if I have to, I disinfect everything when I get home. Germs are being spread at an alarming rate, hence 90% of the greater Tableview residents always have tummy bugs.
