UPMC prides itself on being a leading American health care provider serving our communities, yet its response in the face COVID19 falls disappointingly short. As of March 19th, 2020, UPMC still has not adapted or changed its daily functions in accordance with current CDC or state recommendations. Currently, most nonessential staff are still being required to report to work: UPMC’s cafeteria is open with people still permitted to eat within the facility, Starbucks and the gift shop also remain open to name a few. Not to mention the workers who could be working from home that but are not being permitted to do so. While small businesses across the city, state, and country close their doors UPMC remains open. It has approximately 89,000 staff members, 40 academic, community, and specialty hospitals, 700 doctors' offices and outpatient sites, and 4,900 employed doctors. An institution that people depend on to keep our communities safe and healthy is jeopardizing the health of those they're supposed to protect and serve. By requiring nonessential staff to continue to report to work, UPMC not only puts its patients in danger, but the health care workers we rely on the most. Please sign this petition to urge UPMC to behave in accordance with current state and CDC orders.

The actions of UPMC are reckless and show total disregard for not only their employees but the communities in which they operate.

Please stop putting your staff and public at risk by doing business as usual! You are using up hard to get supplies that should be used to protect your staff in essential care, including home care therapists, nurses, and aides. It is hard to see any motive for your current policies but greed.

Non life sustaining staff should be social distancing with pay. The cafeteria should be take out only.

I have a fever and symptoms as well as contact with a person who tested positive. But someone I live with has to go to work in food service at a UPMC hospital. This is reckless and puts patients and providers at risk in addition to the food service employees who don’t even have much in the way of PPE.

Insurances companies like UPMC should be dropping everything to help with an ACTUAL MEDICAL CRISIS but we all know they care more about premiums than patients. The way they treat their own employees speajs volumes

UPMC is making it clear who they really care about and it's not the health of their employees or the patients therein.
