I have spent hours reading through the messages you are leaving here about how current grading policies have crushed the spirits of so many brilliant young people. My child came home in tears again yesterday because of this broken system and your stories remind me exactly why we cannot quit this fight.

I am a current student in the masters program in special education at Fresno State. I work as a substitute teacher and currently without my primary source of income. This whole coronavirus situation is not easy and has made it extremely difficult to focus on academia.
This is a pandemic, deadlines and schoolwork’s should be the LAST of our problems at the moment; not to mention the lack of resources some students have. I don’t have reliable WiFi where I live yet I’m expected to log onto class for a grade.
In past few weeks I became responsible for a dependent in the blink of an eye while recovering from covid. I don't doubt any of the kids or families are facing the same. Give them some dignity in this hard time.
Some of our families spend hours in line waiting to pick up food at food pantries with limited hours during Zoom classes. Giving all students A’s is showing basic humanity to our students. Empathy *has* to be at the center of all our responses to this pandemic!
Very proud to put my name on this. Liberating students and teachers from the hamster wheel of grades and grading during the worst global pandemic in a century is the least we can do. The first step on the path to educational justice!
Everyone does deserve an A
At this time many students may not have access to internet and are having trouble dealing with a ruff time at the moment.

We all deserve the right to prioritize our health and well being. Grades are trivial when it comes to taking care of yourself and loved ones. As an educator, I believe if you uphold a grading system for your students during this pandemic you are perpetuating institutional racism and oppression toward who identify with BlPOC working class students and their communities.
