The Federal Government should not reduce funding for the NH&MRC as this would be detrimental to the health and economy of Australia. The Government should ensure the percentage of GDP spent on medical research is within the top ten countries worldwide. We the undersigned ask the Australian Government to not reduce existing life-saving funding for the NH&MRC in the May budget. Australia should be increasing its investment in this vital area of medical research for the wellbeing of our country and its citizens. For the health of all Australians and the Australian economy, we strongly urge all politicians to support funding for the NH&MRC.
The current level of public interest has reached a point where we have secured a meeting with the shadow health portfolio to present our arguments. Our team is now finalizing a briefing document that outlines the economic risks of the proposed budget cuts. This material will be delivered directly to the ministerial offices by the end of the week.

This is ridiculous. We should be focusing on the future and our health instead of slashing budgets that actually matter.

ABSOLUTELY NOT. Do not take money away from life saving research. Find it somewhere else.

Short sighted move by the gov. We need to stay competitive with the rest of the world on science. Keep the funding.

Medical research is literally the only thing keeping some of us alive. Why would they even consider cutting this???
