Letter to the following:

Kalamazoo County Public Road Commission

Texas Township Supervisor and Superintendent

RE: Resurface the roads of Treasure Island in Spring of 2021

The residents of Treasure Island Dr, Finnagen Dr and Pepper Dr respectfully request Texas Township and the Kalamazoo County Road Commission slot road repairs for our neighborhood in May of 2021. Funds from the increased Township road assessment should allow for the for the full resurfacing of our local county roads out to the intersection of Finnagen and PQ Ave. We request that this work be scheduled for May of 2021. KCRC, Texas Township, and impacted residents can then meet with full transparency in April of 2021 at the township to determine if flood waters have receded enough to proceed. We realize there may be additional engineering to accommodate a potential raised road, driveway, ROW or modified storm drains. With a May 2021 schedule this engineering could begin immediately. We feel if we do not plan now, this project will simply get pushed another calendar year.

Our roads were slated for resurfacing in 2018. All the surrounding roads including Finnagen between Q Ave and PQ Ave, Heritage Dr, Aquaview Dr and N. Eagle Lake Dr were resurfaced in 2016 and 2017. Since the gravel has been in place, it has created a significant nuisance for the residents. Children are unable to fully enjoy our neighborhood, our homes are covered with dust, and our cars have additional wear and tear. KCRC spends ongoing funds maintaining the gravel that could be eliminated by moving the resurfacing project forward. Additionally the home owners have incurred and continue to incur millions of dollars in losses and repairs. We look forward to working with our governing bodies to improve our neighborhood.

Second the comment made by Jeff Riggs that the elevation needs to be addressed. Our preference is that the gravel be removed and the road returned to the original pre-flood level. The current elevated road level has been a huge problem for those of us on the causeway.

I definitely support the sentiments expressed in this letter. Then pave roads have been a nuisance and a safety concerns especially in the winter months.

It would be a disservice to Eagle Lake residents not to resurface Treasure Island causeway. Crooked Lake roads look great. Somethings not adding up.

Elevation of the road needs to be addressed for drainage.
