The city finally confirmed that the signal light is included in the final expansion plans. It has been a long and draining road but we secured the safety measures this community needed. I am tired but relieved that we can move forward knowing our streets will be safer.

We are homeowners residing in the community Indian Springs Estates located North of Happy Valley between 45th and 51st Ave. It has become extremely hazardous for our community to exit both West and Eastbound onto Happy Valley from 47th and 49th Ave exits. As a community we have been pressing the city for over 20 years to install a traffic signal light at 47th Ave with no success. Our community Indian Springs Estates, La Morada, SaddleView Estates, Indian Gardens and Vintage at Happy Valley have no other egress other than 47th and 49th Ave, we are landlocked by Deem Mountain to the North.
With continued growth in the valley stretching far past the 303 loop and development of a 300+ unit apartment project set to open on 35th Ave and Happy Valley soon it is becoming impossible and dangerous to exit our community.
The City of Phoenix is currently in the design process of the Happy Valley Expansion project spanning from 35th Ave to 69th Ave. The design plans are currently at the final stage. As a community we have made numerous requests for a signal light to be part of design and included in the expansion project. To date we have not had any success in getting confirmation that a signal light will be included in the design. The city keeps moving forward with these road plans while ignoring the reality we face every time we try to leave our driveways. I am tired of the runaround but I am not walking away from this fight until we get a safe way out of our own neighborhood.

Very dire situation for all concerned exiting and entering both 47th and 49th avenue. Cars on Happy Valley speed by as you sit in your car trying to enter the neighborhood, your vehicle is forcefully shook. A head on collision at those speeds will be horrific. We MUST have a safer way to enter and exit this neighborhood.
Getting out of our neighborhood requires WAY too much patience and a bit of luck, especially during peak times. Far too often, unnecessary risks are taken. The number of additional traffic with the new apt complex a couple miles down the road will make things much worse.
I live in Stetson Court at 47th Ave. south of Happy Valley. It is literally impossible to make a left turn during morning rush hour on to Happy Valley.
We currently have 2 teenage drivers and 3 more driving in the next 6 months to 3 yrs. It’s dangerous for seasoned drivers like my wife and I but incredibly dangerous for our children. I’m afraid at some point they get scared or misjudge the fast traffic on happy valley and get into an accident .
We use to live at W. Buckskin Trail which is right on the corner of Happy Valley & 47th Avenue and one of the reasons we moved was due to the accidents, traffic and how unsafe that left turn is.
The intersection at Happy Valley Road and 47th Avenue is dangerous due to uncontrolled traffic flow. Drivers exiting the neighborhood encounter high-speed traffic in both directions, vehicles quickly changing lanes, bicycle lane traffic, blind spots caused by vehicles entering the neighborhood, etc. It is only a matter of time before a tragic right-angle or other type of collision occurs at this intersection. A traffic signal light is needed at Happy Valley Road and 47th Avenue to provide a safe and orderly movement of traffic.
Please install a light at 47th Ave and Happy Valley before someone gets killed.

I work at Stetson Hills school which is near this area. Often coming and going I see accidents at these cross roads. Please consider a light at Happy Valley and 47th. There are many children and parents coming and going along this route.
