Due to it's impact on Tompkins County government and residents, the undersigned residents of Tompkins County request a resolution to be drawn and passed by the Tompkins County Legislature requesting and supporting immediate and complete repeal of the misnamed NY “SAFE Act.” We also urge the Tompkins County Sheriff and District attorney to use good judgment and discretion concerning enforcement and as to the use of their limited resources. The NY “SAFE Act” violates the Second Amendment of the Constitution of the United States of America and was passed to hastily without adequate thought, passed unread by many legislators, when Gov. Cuomo attempted to waive the constitutionally required three-day waiting period between the introduction of legislation and a vote, claiming immediate necessity when there was in fact no true emergency. We the undersigned residents request the lowest law enforcement priority for this law pending repeal and that the County hold spending for such enforcement to the lowest possible level. We urge the County to join in challenges to the constitutionality and legality of the NY “SAFE Act” in our courts.

Repeal Restrictive Gun Control Law Tompkins County Residents In a vote held in the State Legislature on Monday, January 14th, 2013, the Second Amendment Constitutional Freedoms of New Yorkers was unjustly restricted. This legislation was rushed through without any input of the people of the State of New York. We the people of Tompkins County want to make our voices heard against this legislation. We are asking that every gun owner, hunter, sportsman and supporter of the Second Amendment/Individual Freedoms, sign this petition and stand together to repeal the NY Safe Act, as well as make their voices heard to gain our rights back provided to us by the Constitution. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Tompkins Legislature Meeting Monday March 19th, 2013 5:30 pm 320 Tioga St, Ithaca, NY 14850 We need to make our voices heard Please attend the meeting We will be bringing our petitions to the attention of our legislators and work towards getting them to join the majority of New York Counties in requesting a repeal of the NYS Safe Act We have a long road ahead, but we want to make Tompkins County one of the counties formally against the Safe act. We need your support, the more of us there, the harder we will be to ignore! Thank you!

Seeing 500 neighbors step up to demand our rights back proves that this community refuses to be ignored. I am grateful for your courage because it shows the legislature that we will not stay silent while our constitutional freedoms are trampled.

The feedback from neighbors across the county shows how many of us feel betrayed by the way this law was forced through behind closed doors. I am talking with local officials to ensure they understand that our constitutional rights are not up for debate.

Not one more law that only hurts law abiding people while the criminals keep doing whatever they want. Repeal it now.

Total overreach by the state. Local sheriffs should just refuse to deal with this junk.

Finally some push back! The way this was passed in the middle of the night was shady as hell.

Enough is enough. NY is turning into a police state and it is beyond frustrating.

Cuomo needs to stop taking away our rights. This law is unconstitutional and he knows it.
